The Hanover Insurance Group is Hiring a Remote Insurance Defense Attorney (REMOTE)

Our New England Staff Counsel team is growing ! We are currently looking for an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney, licensed to practice in Maine and New Hampshire seeking a work from home opportunity. Position Overview:This position requires the handling of moderate to higher exposure cases from receipt until conclusion through dismissal, settlement or trial. Admission in good standing to both the Maine and New Hampshire Bar is required. First chair jury trial experience is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to work with adjusters and clients to resolve claims as expeditiously and efficiently as possible. Computer literacy, including MS Word, Lexis/Westlaw, and daily management of e-mail and calendar is a must. Likewise, possession of a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel to all the venues we cover is essential. This is a full time/exempt In this role, you will: Meets with clients and claims professionals to resolve cases in the most cost effective mannerConducts pre-trials, mediations, arbitrations or any other legal activity requiredMay independently conduct trialsAdvises claim professionals on the evaluations of legal filesProvides legal advice to clients and other claim professionals as neededNegotiates settlements as directedAttends round tablesWhat you need to apply: 7 years of experience in automobile and general liability matters, with first-chair jury trial experience preferred. Labor Law expertise required. The candidate will be admitted to the New Hampshire and Maine bar and must be licensed to practice law in those jurisdiction. Must have insurance defense jury trial experienceMust have a valid driver's license, an acceptable MVR and an ability to maintain confidentialityAdmission to the federal bar is preferred but not required.Able to work in a team environment with other attorneys, adjusters, claims professionals and support staffComputer literacy, including MS Word, Lexis/Westlaw, and daily management of e-mail and calendarAdvocacy: Solid knowledge and ability to assist, defend or plead for another on moderately complex casesNegotiation Skills: Consistently influences claim outcomes through demonstration of effective negotiation techniquesCommunication: Strong ability to deliberately and precisely exchange thoughts and opinions with one or more persons and to effectively translate legal language and ideas into layman's termsDecision Making: Strong ability to arrive at a determination in moderate to complex situations after careful consideration of facts and law without undo procrastinationOrganization Skills: Strong ability to categorize and prioritize work and information to effectively and efficiently maximize productivityInvestigative Skills: Proficiency in following up step by step on inquiry or observation and search and examine with care and accuracy. Consistently able to take evidence that may be used in reaching a legal conclusionLegal Research: Proficiency in locating cases, treaties, codified laws and statutes aimed at the discovery and interpretation of law and to draw a reasonable and accurate conclusion or render an opinion there fromCourtroom Skills: Able to demonstrate appropriate courtroom behavior, attire and decorum and is knowledgeable of the rules and regulations that govern proceedings and conduct in courts of law or other legal forums and tribunals. Provides the highest professional service to clients and claims professionalsCareer Development: Takes proactive responsibility for their career development.
